People who have a degree in business and finance are needed in most industries.

Requirements for one to have a degree in business and finance:

1. Key skills- key skills include math, analytical and writing skills. This means that math and the English are important for one to be an economist.
2. Computer skills- this includes spreadsheet, office and statistical software. Computer knowledge is important in becoming an economist.

English and math subjects are to be well performed for you to have a degree in business and finance. It is important to develop mathematical skills because business and finance is largely numerical (in numbers). Critical thinking skills are also to be developed because it helps you understand how everyday transactions contribute to greater economic trends.

Business and finance relate with economics in many ways.

A person with a business and finance degree can work as:

1. Budget analyst- they monitor and manage the spending of an institution and come up with reports.
2. Accountant- takes charge of managing the assets of a company and calculates the payroll.
3. Health care administrators
4. Advertising, marketing, public relations and sales managers- they develop programs to help generate interest in a product, service or company. They work closely with art directors, marketing agents and other staff members.
5. Financial analyst- they provide businesses and employees with investment advice and services.
6. Human resource manager- they hire new employees who are qualified for positions that are vacant in a company
7. Actuary- a special accountant. They use advanced statistics, mathematics and financial theory to analyze risks and minimize cost of risks to their clients who are either individuals or corporations.
8. Securities, commodities and financial services sales agents-they sell securities to both corporations and individuals.
9. Economist- with a masters degree as well as a bachelors degree in business and finance, one analyzes production and distribution of scarce resources, including goods and services.

With a degree in business and finance one can get a job with Safaricom, The Ministry of Health, The Ministry of Finance, The Ministry of Education, a bank; such as Kenya Commercial Bank( KCB), Barclays Bank, Equity Bank or Cooperative Bank, or at an insurance company such as UAP, Concord Insurance. One with a degree in business and finance can also work in the entertainment sector such as films and sports in close association with art directors, marketing agents and other staff members. They can also work in the tourism sector by working for hotels as managers.
